The algorithm has found commercial industrial application, with a number of application having been developed for the needs of industry. The basic functionality is to find or discover elements similar to the set pattern in an existing database. The database contains CAD images and may include further data. Queries can be performed through successive approximations. Although the largest database currently in operation consist of 7000 images, no efficiency-related problems have been recorded.
